Put it in Writing

Your will is required to be in writing and it can be typed, printed or handwritten and in any language.  Oral wishes or expression of what you what that is put on a sound tape or a video tape is not acceptable and will not be valid.  Make sure that what you write is readable because if it cannot be read, it cannot be enforced.

If you are unable to write and so you ask a beneficiary of your will to write it for you, it is possible for your will to be challenged as suspicions might arise as to your approval of what was written.  You can write your will on anything at all. You can use paper, fabric, parchment or even carve it into stone, the choice is yours.

There are forms that you can purchase to help you in making a will that will allow you to just fill in the blanks. Although this sounds easy, there are many people who cannot do this properly.  You are better of keeping it simple and just begin your will on a blank sheet of paper that is of good quality because you don’t know how long it must wait until someone needs to read it.  Use permanent ink when you write, anything that can not be erased easily because you never know when it comes to financial matters, who to trust.
