Manual Work

If you have a job that requires manual work then you already know about the many hazards that come with this job. It is a good idea to know the most common hazard and ways that you can keep yourself safe to lower your risk for an work related injury. In the UK, it is musculoskeletal disorder as the most common illness that is work related. This can include joint injuries, pain in your lower back and strain from repetitive tasks.

But this common accident at work can be avoided if you know what causes it. Heavy lifting that is repeated over and over is a cause for this type of injury. Twisting and bending as well as being in an awkward position as you work will also cause this.

Maybe you use too much force when you don’t need to or you have been working many hours and not taking any breaks. Perhaps you are working under extreme conditions, like in weather that is very hot or cold. This can also be caused by using tools that are worn out or defective in some way and so you exert yourself when better tools would not cause then to happen.  But the worst thing you can do is to not deal with any symptoms of musculoskeletal disorders when they first show up.
